Scholarship Coverage The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program provides the recipients with the following benefits:

  • Newly awarded fellowships offer a stipend of $55,000 for the first year, $57,000 for the second year, and $59,000 for the third year.
  • In addition, an allowance of $1,500 per year is granted to the host institution, which can be used at the sponsor’s discretion to support the fellow’s research expenses, travel to scientific meetings, or health insurance.

Eligibility Criteria for CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowships To be eligible for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Required Languages: English
  • Eligible Countries: All World Countries
  • Applicants must be working in areas directly related to immunology or cancer immunology, with eligible projects falling within the broader field of immunology, particularly concerning the resolution of cancer.
  • Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the award activation date and conduct their proposed research under the guidance of a qualified sponsor with a formal appointment at the host institution.
  • Applicants with five or more years of relevant postdoctoral experience are not eligible, except for M.D. applicants, who should not include residency years in this calculation.
  • Only in exceptional cases will applicants who have already spent three or more years in a sponsor’s laboratory by the fellowship’s start date be considered.
  • The fellowship can take place in the United States or abroad but must occur at a non-profit institution. There are no citizenship restrictions.
  • Only one fellow per sponsor may apply per application round, and faculty sponsors may not have more than three CRI-supported fellows at any given time.

How to Apply for CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program To apply for the CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship, follow these instructions:

  1. Complete the PDF application form, which should be filled out, printed, and signed by relevant parties, including an Internal Review Board (IRB) or certifying officer, the institution’s administrative officer, and the institution’s financial officer.
  2. After completing the form, scan it as a PDF and upload it, along with other supporting materials, when filling out the online application form.
  3. As part of the online application, combine the following supporting documentation in a single PDF document:
    • The entire PDF application form, starting with the cover sheet, ensuring all signatures have been obtained for section three.
    • Brief description of the applicant’s background and research accomplishments.
    • List of other funding sources to which applications have been submitted or will be submitted, including due dates.
    • Applicant’s curriculum vitae and bibliography.
    • A brief summary of your project, explaining its relevance to understanding the role of the immune system in cancer and its potential clinical significance (not exceeding six pages, inclusive of tables and figures, and exclusive of references).
    • An abstract of research in non-technical English explaining the importance of the proposed research and its potential clinical relevance (for fundraising purposes).
    • Concise research proposal (background, significance, specific aims, materials and methods) (not exceeding six pages, inclusive of tables and figures, and exclusive of references).
    • A letter from the sponsor introducing the applicant and describing the sponsor’s qualifications to oversee the proposed research. The letter should include an assurance that the applicant’s project will be conducted under the direct supervision of the sponsor.
    • Sponsor’s curriculum vitae/biosketch, bibliography (limited to the past five years or publications relevant to the proposed research), and a list of the sponsor’s current research support.
    • Two letters of recommendation, one from the applicant’s thesis advisor and the other from someone familiar with the applicant’s work. The sponsor may not submit one of these letters. If the sponsor also served as the applicant’s thesis advisor, contact CRI for further instructions.
