Eligibility Criteria for MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship:

- Proficiency in English or Japanese
- Citizenship of any country worldwide
- Intention to study abroad in Japan from overseas
- Not having Japanese nationality and being a national of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan
- Born on or after April 2, 1988
- Achieved a GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale at the most recent university
- Those serving on active military duty or employed by the military at the time of application are ineligible
- Recipients must be able to arrive in Japan during the specified arrival period by APU
- Applicants cannot have received a MEXT scholarship in the past unless they have more than 3 years of educational research experience after the final payment of the previous MEXT scholarship award
- Applicants cannot be applying for another MEXT scholarship
- Recipients cannot receive a scholarship from another organization while studying at APU
- Recipients must have a student status of residence (visa status) in Japan
